What steps to take Before Professional Arrives for Emergency Hot Water Repairs?

>> Jun 28, 2018

Dealing with damaged hot water system is not easy. The first thing that you must remember is that you must never attempt to fix a malfunctioned system on your own as this can probably make the situation even worse. However, there are certain steps that you can take to ensure that professional hot water repairs are carried out smoothly. This article explains the steps that should be taken and when you seek help from a certified technician.

The Common Symptoms That Indicate You Need Hot Water Repairs Immediately Are:
·         Wired noises are coming out from the water tank
·         The water is leaking from the system
·         No water is coming out from the system
·         Water is constantly flowing out of outlet valve
Let's discuss more about these common problems along with the tips and tricks that should be followed to tackle them in a competent way.

Tips and Tricks to Handle Common Hot Water Problems

As mentioned earlier, a hot water system is prone to four common problems and each one should be addressed effectively.

#1. Wired Noises Coming Out from Water Tank

When strange sounds are heard from the tank then it means the system is malfunctioning. This could be due to several reasons, but many times it triggers sediment build up. But whenever you come across such a situation do contact a qualified technician for hot water repairs, because if the problem persists then it can affect the durability and performance of the system too.

#2. The Water Is Leaking from The System

Leakage of water from the system showcases serious damage. Still, certain steps must be taken to shut down the operations of the system completely before the professional arrives. This is often based on the type of hot water system you have:

  • For electric hot water system, simply turn the switch off from the main power supply of your house and then carefully examine the water seepage. If the water is coming from temperature and pressure valve, then this can be due to damaged components that should be replaced at once using professional hot water repairs.
  • For gas hot water systems, begin by turning off the gas. You will find a small cap or the gas cock located close to the system used it to shut-off the system completely. Then, turn off the water cock and wait for the professional to arrive.

#3. No Hot Water Is Coming Out from The System

You rush to the shower to cherish a nice warm bath and suddenly realize that no water is coming out from the tap. Well, this can be due to leaked or damaged pipes. At first, open the cold water tap and see whether water flows or not and then check the tank. If neither hot nor cold water comes out from the tap then contact professional immediately who can examine what exactly is the problem and how it should be fixed.

#4. Water Is Constantly Flowing Out of Outlet Valve

Though water spills from the outlet valve is common, still the flow should never be constant. Most of the hot water models have levers that allow the system to flush out water at least 5 to 6 times so as to release trapped obstacles. If this does not solve the problem, then you should hire a technician for hot water repairs before the problem becomes worse.

Always Remember: fast and effective hot water repairs not only save you from unwanted expenses but adds lifespan to the system. Therefore, consider these tips and choose a certified professional for installation, maintenance and repairs of hot water systems.

Keep your indoors cool and comfortable by installing a window evaporative cooler

Swamp or evaporative coolers are a great way to cool down your home, especially if you live in a dry climate. Swamp coolers add water to the air to cool it down, raising the humidity in your home. They work best in dry climates. To use a window swamp cooler, you first must pick the right one for your home. Then, you can use it as the weather gets warmer to cool your home. Your evaporative cooler will need to be installed outside of your home. It can be installed in various locations, depending upon the type of cooler chosen. The three types of coolers are:

·         Down-draft (mounted on the roof)
·         Side-draft (mounted on an eave or window)
·         Up-draft (mounted on the ground)

Roof mounted are the most common, although they are more difficult to maintain. Mounted coolers are connected to ducts that bring the cooled air into the rooms of your home. In some cases, existing ductwork is used to move the air to the various rooms. Roof mounted systems are often the easiest to connect to existing duct systems. Alternatively, ductwork can be designed specifically for an evaporative cooler to channel the air into the rooms of your home. This will depend on what type of system that you are installing. The three systems are:

  • Stand alone evaporative coolers (designed ductwork)
  • Stand alone alternative to a refrigeration system (designed ductwork)
  • Combined system (shares ductwork with a refrigeration system)

The only problem associated with the combination system is that refrigeration ducts are often too small to move the amount of air required by evaporative coolers. This causes less airflow and more noise. Also, combined systems require that a damper be installed to separate the units. Otherwise the refrigerated air will escape through the evaporative cooler and the moist air will corrode the refrigeration system. In smaller, open homes, cooled air can be blown into a central location without ductwork.

How swamp coolers work
Evaporative coolers work by cooling fresh air from outside that replaces the warm air in the house. Thus, you need to open windows or doors to let the warm air escape. If this presents a security concern for you, you may want to think about installing ceiling vents.

Your evaporative cooler will also need to be plugged into a nearby 120 volt wall outlet. Be sure that there is an electrical disconnect for your safety during maintenance. There is no special wiring required (unlike air conditioners that often require a high amperage power circuit). You should also install a low voltage thermostat that will turn the cooler on and off automatically. Finally, be sure that there is an accessible cooler water shutoff valve.

Coolers should be installed at least 10 feet away from or 3 feet below plumbing vents, combustion appliance flues, clothes dryer vents, or exhaust fan vents. Keep animals, yard chemicals, and fuels and solvents away from the cooler vicinity. Provide a minimum of 3 ft of clearance to any side of the cooler that requires access for maintenance.

When you install your cooler, check the float valve setting after one pump cycle. This way you can make sure that the float isn’t set too high, which would cause the reservoir of water to overflow.

Installing the right window swamp cooler for your needs can provide a number of benefits which help keep you comfortable and your utility bill low. Getting a unit with the proper BTU capacity for your room will help gradually cycle the air and maintain a cool temperature. If you get a BTU capacity that is much larger than the recommended amount, then the unit will cycle on and off more frequently, which can lead to more user-maintenance and a shorter lifespan. Also, with larger units, air distribution will be sporadic and uneven, while smaller units will cycle air efficiently and for longer periods of time.

Window swamp coolers with the proper measurements and capacity will be more efficient when it comes to dehumidifying your space. Units must cycle for substantial periods of time in order for moisture to condense and drain from the unit. So, when you install a unit with a larger-than-needed BTU capacity, it will cycle for shorter periods of time and will condense less moisture.

Noise is also reduced when a unit with the proper BTU capacity is installed. The unit will have a smaller fan motor and compressor, which will allow the appliance to operate at lower speeds for longer periods of time and reduce loud system startups.

Wondering why green juice is becoming increasingly popular? Here are its health benefits!

1.   Alkalize Your Body and Tons of Nutrients
While you might think your multivitamins got you covered, they actually contain harsh chemicals and aren't absorbed into your body as well. But with green juices, you have the all-natural ingredients that contain vitamins and minerals in bioavailable form. That means your body will absorb the nutrients easily and get more out of it.

Furthermore, the vegetables that make up your green juice can alkalize your body, keeping it at the ideal pH range. This reduces the risk of your body becoming acidic, preventing weak bones, fatigue, and digestive problems.

Consuming a lot of green vegetables maintains your alkalinity, so just a glass of green juice every day will help you get your fix of much-needed vitamins and minerals!

2.   Energy for the Whole Day
I'm sure that the first thing you grab when feeling groggy or sleepy is coffee. Or, you go for an energy drink!

Sure, tea and coffee are healthy when you drink it in moderation. However, they aren't the main remedy for energy!

One of the reasons why you lack energy is because of your lack in key vitamins and minerals. When your body lacks these nutrients, it will leave you feeling tired all the time. What's the real remedy here? Green juices! They will be able to give you an instant energy boost compared to caffeine, which just leaves with that crash in the end.

3.   Can Delay Aging
This should be a well-known benefit of green juices! After all, consuming fruits and vegetables will have you feel AND look better. How?

Antioxidants, of course! Antioxidants protect your body and prevent it from getting oxidative damage, which results in physical aging. Oxidative damage may also cause the development of diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and other serious diseases.

So what can you do to prevent that? By getting a huge share of antioxidants from your green juices. With multiple servings of super foods that contain tons of nutrients, you boost your antioxidant intake. As a result, you don't age quickly and reduce the risk of various diseases.

4.   Enhance Detoxification
Regardless of how careful we may be in taking care of our skins, our bodies are always exposed to toxins. You can find them in drinking water, the air we breathe, or even our food!

These toxins would put a strain to our livers. To help reduce that strain and keep a healthy liver, green juices will help!

Studies have shown that cruciferous vegetables such as spinach and broccoli can improve liver detoxification, making it more efficient in getting toxins out of the body.

With just one glass of green juice a day, your liver will be able to fight off the toxins consumed.

5.   Better Immune System and Improve Gut Health
Last but to the least, green juice can help support healthy immune systems because of all the nutrients it contains. That way, you are less susceptible of common colds and sicknesses, all the while protecting your body from anything that can harm you.

Also, green juice can help improve your gut health. It isn't use going to help with your digestion but with your mood as well. Through better gut health thanks to the digestive enzymes and probiotics in green juice, you help alleviate symptoms of depression. So you won't only delay aging and have a healthier body, but you also feel happier!
