Spending Holiday in the Kitchen
>> May 14, 2010
Yesterday is holiday. I was so glad that my husband was at home. Having no plan to go anywhere, he asked me to cook something together. Yes, why not? It’s been long time enough since the last time we’re doing it. We have much favorite food; one of them is ‘pempek’. It’s so familiar in Indonesia. For you who’ve never known ‘pempek’, I don’t know how to describe it precisely. Well, I guess, it’s like fried fish balls, but in different shapes and gravy. Pempek gravy tastes sweet, sour and spicy.
If we want to eat ‘pempek’, we usually go out and buy, or eat it at a food stall. So, it’s our first time cooking ‘pempek’, and we don’t have the recipe! Searching the recipe in Google…aha…the recipes are different each other! We selected one that is simple enough and decided to do a little experiment.
Actually, he’s totally in charge, I’m just his assistant. Here are some photos of cooking process :

The look is quite good, but it isn’t tender enough. We think that we’ve added too much flour while making the dough. But it’s okay, next time will be better!
