Show Respect
People who are homeless are not really different from anyone else; they have simply run into a different set of life circumstances than you have. One of the easiest and most important things you can start doing right now is show compassion towards the people who are worse off than you, and to acknowledge them as equals and people who deserve respect. People who are homeless have to face isolation and scorn everyday, so being treated in a civil, polite way once in a while will help them to feel like they really do matter.
Support the Local Homeless Shelter
There is a lot of work to be done when it comes to running homeless shelters, and they often can't provide their services to all the people who need them. That is why it's so important for members from the community to help out as well. There are many things you can do: you can organise fundraising events, volunteer your time serving food, make donations of money, clothes or other household items, or you can work on getting the word out and drumming up more support. Support Policies That Help the Homeless
Although the real power of combating homelessness is in the hands of people in your community, it also helps a lot to try to support policies that benefit homeless people as well.
