We Don’t Marry Perfect Persons!

>> Jul 7, 2010

I think you, married couples have realized that your partner isn’t a perfect one; as there’s no perfect person. NOBODY’S PERFECT, right? Accept your partner’s imperfection will make your marriage happier. Why?

Remember this: too much expectation can annoy your relationship. If your mind is full of thinking on your expectations about how is your partner should be; you’ll often feel disappointed.

If you have expectations, don’t hide it in your mind; say it to your partner. But don’t force him to change immediately. It needs process and many times to change one’s habits and personalities. Moreover, you should be ready if in fact, your partner is hard to change or can’t change at all!

You won’t sweat small stuff again. Don’t think small problem as a bigger problem. In our beginning of marriage, I still often sweat small stuffs. I almost grumble and complain every day. For example, my husband has a bad habit: after having a bath, he always put wet towel on the bed. At that time, this bad habit made me angry; but it doesn’t make me angry anymore. Why should I be angry? Just take the wet towel from the bed and hang it outside. You don’t need to be angry, right?

Since it’s hard to change your partner, it’s important for every single person to choose a future husband/wife carefully. Choose someone that love you, respect you, and can accept you completely.

Today is My Husband’s Birthday!

>> Jul 2, 2010

How do I begin to tell you how honoured I am
To have you in my life?
I'll start by saying it was a dream come true
The day I became your wife.
You're my best friend in the good times
And my rock in times of sorrow.
You're the reason for sweet yesterdays
And my promise for tomorrow.
I never thought I could feel this loved
Until I became your wife.
You made this year and each other year
The best of my life.
Love always,
Your Wife

I know a prayer is a priceless gift, but this year I want to give him things as birthday present. I bought him a jacket and a pair of shoes. I didn’t buy it by myself; as we’re shopping together yesterday (thanks for my paid posts that allow me to do this). We plan to have dinner tonight while watching the football match: Holland vs. Brazil. I hope Holland can win!

Couple’s Corner: Did I Marry My Dream Man?

>> Jul 1, 2010

It’s interesting topic. I guess every woman has their dream man but in fact, there is no woman that married with her dream man. Dream man is just a fantasy; and it’s a normal thing as long as you still stand on reality.

Like other woman, my dream man’s look like is changing several times. I’m too shy to mention here, hehehe. When I first met Mas Rofi, I didn’t have any feeling as he isn’t my ‘type’ at all. But, his love, care, attention, can melt my heart –at last. Who needs a dream man if you have met someone that makes you feel so special?

Knowing each other’s characters is a must. Then you can answer this question:”Is this the right man for me?” Don’t forget to ask to God, too. I did this every time there’s a man ‘nearing’ me.

Well, my marriage is almost eight years now; and I’m still convinced that he is the right man for me. What about you? Have you met your dream man/woman?

Family Conflict Solving Guidance

>> Jun 28, 2010

Every one has their own views, thoughts and expectations. It also happens with every member in your family. In fact, a family consists of different views, thoughts and expectations of each family member. So, during your daily family life, it is normal if disagreement sometimes happens.

Family conflict can potentially occur when there is collision between different views and thoughts of family members. The conflict truly happens when the misunderstandings between family members directs them to the wrong conclusion. If the conflict matters are never discussed, let unsolved or not resolved wisely and peacefully, it can lead to deeper arguments and anger.

If this condition takes place in your family, you should consider taking immediate action. Family conflict can cause unhappiness and stress, since it will affect to poor relationship between family members. It is not the right environment for young family members to grow up, since they should develop and grow in healthy and comfortable family surroundings.

It is not an easy job to solve any family conflict. It needs hard work, determination and consideration. Peaceful reconciliation can only be held if every family member that involved in a conflict is willing to have open communication, negotiation, compromise and respect each other.

Then you can take a further step with discussing and suggesting a solution together. When the solution has been decided and chosen, every family member must understand it completely and attach to it.

If you have doubt to solve your family conflict by yourself or you face really difficult conflict issues; it is wiser if you get a professional help and advice of a family counselor. You can ask for help of family counselors at
Denver Family Counseling if you are a resident of Denver. The family counselor will be able to see the conflict in bigger picture with neutrality and gives a fresh and different perspective. You should apply the counselor’s advice to look for a resolution with your family and avoid any potential conflict in the future.
