Lifestyle 101: A Healthy Head is a Healthy Body

>> Jul 20, 2013

It is no secret that even the strongest of us can often fall victim to the rigours of stress and anxiety. In reality, these emotional states can have a very real effect on our health and the health of our loved ones. No only can stress and emotional upset take a toll on how we feel about ourselves, such thoughts will have a damaging effect on our relationships. So, it is always wise to find ways to help cope with such feelings in a positive and harmonious manner. Let us look at a few tips that can help us find an even keel.

Take Some "Me Time" Every Day

While this may seem virtually impossible for the full-time mother or the husband who finds himself at the office more than he is at home, such personal time is essential. Now, we are not referring to hours spent alone meditating on a hilltop away from the rest of the world. Instead, even finding ten minutes to sit, close one's eyes and practice some deep breathing exercises can do wonders to help lower blood pressure and relieve stress. If we then add the soothing aroma of a lavender candle or a selection of relaxing music, this brief hiatus can work miracles.

Stretch

Yes, you read this title correct. Stretching increases blood flow to the brain and heart while helping the muscles to relieve tension that has been built up over the course of the day. Stretching also releases certain "feel good" hormones within the brain that will provide us with a natural high and a sense of peace. These movements do not require the expertise of a yoga practitioner, but instead a few simple exercises that can be found online are able to be performed within ten or fifteen minutes. Stretching relaxes both the mind and the body.

Take a Time Out With a Loved One

This may prove to be difficult with a hectic schedule, but setting aside fifteen or thirty minutes each evening to simply sit, watch a candle burn and relax together is one of the best ways to decompress in comfort. In fact, you may have forgotten how wonderful the human touch can feel when you are truly at ease. Not only is this a healthy practice, but it can help centre a relationship.

Aromatherapy

Our sense of smell is deeply rooted into the subconscious. It is therefore no surprise that soothing aromas such as lavender, cinnamon and vanilla can truly soothe frayed nerves around the household. If we combine these scents with the soft, gentle flickering of a candle, we suddenly find the perfect recipe for a much-needed respite from our daily lives. These candles can be placed nearly anywhere and even long after their flame has departed, the sweet smell of these aromas will remain.

These three tips will undoubtedly lead to a greater sense of mental and emotional positivity. Practicing such habits is a great way to maintain a fit mind and a physically healthy body.

Tim Aldiss writes for Yankee Candle the home of perfumed candles.

What You Need to Know about Garage Door Repair in Vancouver

>> Jul 15, 2013

Vancouver is a busy city in Canada. The city has a lot of makers/sellers of garage doors/gates and other related equipment. If you are a resident of Vancouver and if your garage door needs some repair, the good news is that most of these makers/sellers own websites through which they can be contacted in case of a problem with your garage doors.

Following are a few steps to initiate the repair:
Ø You should start by searching the terms “Garage Door Repair Vancouver.”  The search engine will display all the top search results. Most of the top search results are uniform resource locators or URLs of the people or firms that engage in such business.
Ø  You should visit the URLs of the various business men and ask them your question. Some of them will offer to help you at a very low cost.
Ø  Accept their appointments and take your door to them.
Ø  They will repair it professionally at a cost.

Facts to know before and after the repair:
Ø  The repair of the garage door/gate does not mean that the problem cannot recur. In fact, it can recur after less than one week.
Ø  It is good to request the experts to inform you what had caused the problems. This will help you to exercise preventive maintenance of your garage door.
Ø  You should always try to understand what is wrong with your garage door before you take it to the technicians.
Ø  Exploring the possibility of finding a technician near you and who is knowledgeable about the garage doors/gate can help you to save a lot of money that you would have spent on travel.
Ø  It is not advisable to return the door/gate to the technician who solved your problem unless you trust him/her completely. The reason for this is the fact that the technician might not have been keen while correcting your problem. Another reason is that they may have secretly introduced more faults to the door so that you can go back to them. These are the facts that you need to know about garage door repair in Vancouver.

Conclusion
If the doors are well taken care of, you won’t need to repair them. In case of a problem with the door, it is not a must for the owner to take the door back to the seller that sold it to him.

Blues around a Park

Thank God, my niece –who lives together with us now- has been accepted in one famous university in different province. Actually, a nephew of another brother –lives at other town- was also accepted in the same university!

Today is the first school day, therefore this morning my husband and I drove my SIL and Ais to her new school. Hope she can adapt well with new school situation and have new good friends.

Anyway, for Blue Monday, I’ll share blues that I saw around a small recreational area in my city.

A candid shot of this mature couple. They're holding hands while talking each other. My husband guessed they aren't a married couple. Ah, it's not my problem :)

Poor Little Bird

>> Jul 13, 2013

I was stunned enough when this bird was falling down onto one of the car wiper -it happened right in front of me!  At that time, the car was park beneath the row of trees.

I was waiting for the bird to fly away but it didn’t happen. This poor fella just stayed on the wiper and started to shout for help. I guessed the bird still learning to fly and unfortunately falling down.  Since we had to go right away, my husband decided to take the bird and put it on the nearest tree branch. Hope the bird can survive.
