Black Friday 2013

>> Nov 16, 2013

Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving where retailers offer massive discounts and amazing deals on goods and items. At this time of the year, people look forward to Black Friday sales and Black Friday deals. It is considered to be the busiest shopping day of the year and most retailers cover their previous losses on this single day. When customers see whopping discounts on items for Christmas, they also end up buying things that are not discounted and this is why there is so much competition among the retailers to attract customers on this day. And if you don’t want to overboard with the shopping budget, you must know how to shop on this day. Given below are some shopping tips to shop on Black Friday 2013:

  • To begin with, make sure to make a list of all the people you want to shop for. This will help you allocate your budget for each person’s gift.
  • You can always take idea from your loved ones about what they need, if anything in specific, for Thanksgiving. With that, it will be easy for you to pick just the right thing for them and save on time.
  • Make a list of maximum amount that you are willing to spend for each person’s gift. With this kind of calculation, it will be easy for you to have a buffer amount in case you fall short of money, if at all.
  • Search ads. Buy a local newspaper and flip through the advertisements. If there is anything that you are looking for gifting and it is on sale, circle it right away and make sure to visit that store.
  • You can do the same procedure online. You might find better deals online and during this time, most websites offer free shipping. So this will save you money and a trip to crowded stores. So you can purchase gifts with the best deals online.
  • The best deals on Black Friday are limited to a certain quantity or a certain time frame. Thus, it is better to take a partner with you and you can try tag team shopping which saves a lot of time as you both can shop jointly.
  • The other advantage of tag team shopping is that while one person has finished shopping, he/she can stand in the long queue waiting for the other one. The other one alternatively can shop for the one in the queue.
Thus, Black Friday sales and deals are one hell of an experience. They are definitely worth giving a shot.

When Should Girls Start Wearing Make-Up

>> Nov 13, 2013

Will you allow your daughter to wear some eye shadows and lipstick? Everything is quite individual, of course, and there are still some girls who simply do not care about fashion and other “girly” things, but usually the interest in make-up appears in the period between the age of 12 and 14.
http://farm1.staticflickr.com/100/300185133_a7cd034221.jpg

And we must also confess that no matter how terrifying this may be to most mothers and fathers, eye shadows, lipstick, mascara and nail polish usually come with a mini skirt and a pair of high-heeled shoes. There is absolutely nothing you can do about that except for taking the fact that your little girl is growing up!

When should girls start wearing make-up?

It is entirely up to you when and if you will allow your child to use make-up. If we have to be absolutely honest, your daughter's opinion will probably differ from your own one, which means that it will be almost impossible for you to avoid a conflict. In such cases, it is necessary to have a serious conversation on this matter, but try as hard as you can to keep the good manners and explain your position reasonably.

As a parent, you should also have in mind that sometimes girls' early physical development may not be accompanied by their emotional maturation. That is exactly the reason why most mothers and fathers feel embarrassed, which is provoked most often in the great difference between the appearance and the behaviour of their daughters. So, try not to hurt your children's fragile self-esteem even further, and choose a more wise and diplomatic approach.

If you don't mind the make-up, try to explain in detail to your daughter how to use it properly, and most important – how much make-up to put on. You can also use the Internet, because it is literally full of beauty tips and videos with specific explanations.

If you do not want your daughter to spend too much time in front of the mirror, try to explain your opinion and make her understand what would the consequences be in cases of disobedience. Remember that a compromise would be the best outcome for both of you – after all, a little mascara and light blush would not harm anyone.

After all, you should also take into account the fact that children will always remain children for their parents, no matter what age they are. So, try to be as objective as you can and make sure you remember the phases you have gone through when you were at the age of your children.

Is make-up harmful for the teenagers' health?

Some recent research has shown that the teenage girls who wear make-up are exposed to a greater risk of serious health problems. Their skin is considered to be able to absorb a true cocktail of dangerous chemicals that may lead to cancer, infertility and some serious hormonal problems. The research proved that the earlier girls start using make-up, the greater the risk is, because their brains and bodies are still developing in teen age.

Scientists made some laboratory studies over girls between the age of 14 and the age of 19, which proved that all the girls ended up damaged by different chemicals such as triclosan, parabens, and phthalates contained in make-up and beauty products. Most experts believe that these chemicals lead to cancer and hormonal disturbances, and some scientists even believe that there substances may lead to depressions and premature puberty. The study of Environmental Working Group is actually the first official one that analyses the consequences from the make-up and beauty products used by teenage girls.

Blue Soldier

>> Nov 11, 2013

Happy Monday to all. Wish for a great week ahead!

I almost forget to share this blue soldier. This blue soldier is a part of living statue community in Jakarta. Several living statues in different roles can be seen in Jakarta famous public places like Merdeka Square and the front area of Fatahillah Museum.

At Merdeka Square, I saw a few soldiers in yellow, blue and red. Visitors may take photos together with those soldiers by only donating a small amount of money. Every living statue will be in the same pose for at least fifteen minutes.

A Cat with a Job

>> Nov 9, 2013

When seeing a life guard cat last week, I remember that I’ve ever captured a cat in duty as well  :)
Taken weeks ago when my husband and I picked up a package. In the front of an office, I saw a mobile post office. Inside it, there’s a sweet cat accompanying a female staff. It’s a pity that I forgot to capture a whole part of the mobile post office.
How should we call this cat? A post cat?

The Benefits of Co-Sleeping: Restful Nights and a Better Start for Baby

>> Nov 8, 2013

Despite what detractors say, many parents swear by co-sleeping. The debate is ongoing, however modern research has indicated that there are many benefits to co-sleeping that parents should be aware of. It should be noted that the benefits listed below are the results of safe co-sleeping. Parents should learn more about the safety guidelines of this practice before trying it at home. Why should you consider co-sleeping with your new little one?

Supports a Feeling of Acceptance from Parents
Little babies can’t speak yet, but they can pick up on things in their environment and the actions of those around them. When a parent co-sleeps with baby, it sends a strong message of acceptance. Your child will feel calmer and happier knowing that you are there for them 24 hours a day at a life stage when they need you the most. This positive message will carry over into other aspects of baby’s life, especially as he or she grows up.

Soothes Uneasy Sleepers and Keeps Parents Rested
Some babies are just not good sleepers. No matter how hard parents try, their little one screams and cries in the crib. Some parents find that bringing the baby into a co-sleeping situation dramatically improves their night habits. Some children feel assured and sleep better when they know mom, dad or both parents are close by. This has the additional benefit of allowing parents to get more rest so they can get through early childhood with fewer struggles.

Co-Sleeping Increases Chances of a Healthy Emotional State
Many professionals and researchers have found that co-sleeping nurtures better emotional health in both male and female children. Greater self-esteem has been recognised in babies who co-slept with parents. They also tend to harbour less guilt feelings and anxiety into adulthood. Girls were better equipped to handle intimacy and affection later in life. Overall co-sleeping helps to encourage the development of a well-balanced emotional state.

Reduces the Chances of Respiratory Risks and SIDS
The deep inhale and exhale of parents is also believed to set the rhythm for baby’s breathing. This is associated with a reduced risk of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) when compared to babies who do not co-sleep. Many children tend to gravitate towards their parent, often in the face to face sleeping position which allows baby to feel their parent’s breath. This helps regulate the child’s breathing and “reminds” the body to keep inhaling and exhaling when at rest.
