The Blue Train Station

>> Oct 21, 2013

A funny shot at the Bogor Train Station. It's a new look of my city's station -starting this year. I captured Bragas, my nephew in grey t-shirt, but the girl behind him made a pose too :)
Inside the commuter train. The seat is blue, you can't see it as there's no empty sitting space.
Still inside the train: both SILs were smiling. Some signs inside the train are in blue.

This blue station called Juanda Station, the only blue colored station in Jakarta, Indonesia. The station has three floor levels since 1990. I couldn’t take good shots as the others (brothers, SILs, nieces and nephews) have been down the stairs and left me on the platform.

Juanda Station. Lots of things in blue here! The train has blue touch too.

A quick shot before catching others :)

Actually our destination was closer to reach from the previous station but the commuter trains that we rode don’t stop at the Gambir station.

A Cat Nap

>> Oct 19, 2013

Cats sleep two-thirds of their life away. It's about sixteen hours or more every day -more than any other mammal, not including the opossum and some bats.

A cat nap captured -on the bench at the porch- of our regular visitor
Why do cats sleep so much? A number of matters are involved. In the simple words, the need for sleep increases in direct proportion to the amount of energy required. Being a predator, the cat has extraordinary energy needs for hunting, but usually uses huge bursts of energy to stalk, pounce, and wrestle that toy mouse into submission.

Since most cats active during daybreak and sundown, their sleeping time more generally consists of short and long naps throughout the day. Habits are different between cats but very old and very young kittens sleep more than healthy adults. Sleep time increases on cold, rainy or cloudy days. Here, cats seem like sleeping more on hot days as well.

5 Ways to Stay Productive at Work

>> Oct 18, 2013

When it comes to staying productive in the workplace, many people think that if they are staying busy, they are getting things done.  However, this isn't always the case.  Mindless productivity can actually hurt you more than it can do well.

In order to stay productive and complete tasks in an effective manner, there are a variety of tips that can help.  By using these tips and tools, you will be able to save time, become more successful and feel more accomplished at the end of the day.

#1 Carry a Schedule

Before you start your day or week, have a schedule handy.  This can either be on your phone, or if you prefer the old-fashioned way, a notebook.  Make it a habit to record your thoughts, create tasks and deadlines.  As you complete each task, check it off and go onto to the next one.

Great schedule apps to consider for your phone include:  CalenGoo, Pocket Informant, Week Calendar and TouchCalendar.

#2 Motivate Yourself

When creating tasks, there may be some that you just don't want to do.  However, in the back of your head, you know they have to get done sooner or later.  A great way to get these tasks done is simply by motivating yourself.  This can be done by rewarding yourself, picturing something that you want to do with the money you've made and so forth.

Consider downloading these apps to motivate yourself:  Way of Life, Everest, Habit List and Streaks.

#3 Set Time for Distractions

Experts claim that when you get distracted, it can take more than fifteen minutes to get back to what you're doing in the first place.  Distractions in the workplace can include talking with co-workers, checking your voicemail or browsing the web.  While some of this may have to be done to get things done, devote a solid hour of your day to get these distractions out of the way.

#4 Take Advantage of Technology

Today, the Internet is filled with hundreds of thousands of great tools that can help you save you time.  Whether it's a PDF writer that converts your documents to a usable PDF or an email organizer, make sure you're taking full advantage of technology.  To give you some ideas, here are some tools you may want to consider using:

- Coolender
- Yast
- Sanebox
- AnyMeeting
- Buffer
- Skype

#5 Create an Environment

Lastly, make sure that you're working in an environment where you can get things done.  Whether you're working from home or an office, always make sure that you have the right lighting, it's quiet and you have nothing to distract you from your work, such as a phone or children.

By being organized, valuing your time and creating a habit of following these tips, you will be able to control your time and become a better time manager.
