New Year is Coming Again!

>> Dec 31, 2010

Hi, friends, today I want to share some funny stories and pictures about New Year. Hope you can enjoy it!

Lecture Tour with a Difference On New Year's Eve, Daniel was in no shape to drive, so he sensibly left his van in the car park and walked home. As he was wobbling along, he was stopped by a policeman. 'What are you doing out here at four o'clock in the morning?' asked the police officer.

'I'm on my way to a lecture,' answered Roger.

'And who on earth, in their right mind, is going to give a lecture at this time on New Year's Eve?' enquired the constable sarcastically.
'My wife,' slurred Daniel grimly.

A Bad Dream? Jemima was taking an afternoon nap on New Year's Eve before the festivities. After she woke up, she confided to Max, her husband, 'I just dreamed that you gave me a diamond ring for a New Year's present. What do you think it all means?'
'Aha, you'll know tonight,' answered Max smiling broadly.

At midnight, as the New Year was chiming, Max approached Jemima and handed her small package. Delighted and excited she opened it quickly. There in her hand rested a book entitled: 'The meaning of dreams'.

New Year's Day Party - That Never Was? As in many homes on New Year's Day, Janet and Nigel, a happily married couple, faced the annual conflict of which was more important: the football match on television, or the lunch itself.
Hoping to keep the peace Nigel ate lunch with the rest of the family, and even lingered for some pleasant after-lunch chat before retiring to the lounge to turn on the television.

Some minutes later, Janet looked in to see how he was and graciously even bought a cold beer for Nigel. She smiled, kissed him on the cheek and asked what the score was. Nigel told her it was half time and that the score was still 0-0.

'See?' Janet said happily, 'You didn't miss a thing.'

Finally, Some Serious New Year's Resolutions : Top Tips for Men and Women

Men:

1) Set the goal yourself, rather than someone in your life dictating the New Year resolutions.
2) Make only one new resolution. Make our goal specific and personal.
3) Make a 'Pro' and 'Con' list. Review each week.
4) Make a commitment to do something new, rather than stop something old.

Women:

1) Tell other people, especially other women friend what are your New Year resolutions.
2) Plan ahead, make your new year's resolution right away.
3) Don't blame yourself when you falter. Just start again.
4) Reward yourself when you succeed.
Have you made yours? I admit that I feel rather lazy to make mine. But I’ll do it; since I need to motivate my self!

Row, Row, Row the Boat

>> Dec 29, 2010

I captured these boats when I visited Petuguran Dam (Bumiayu, Central Java, Indonesia). The smaller boat is used by village people nearby. To reach their village, they must across the lake every day. It’s the shortest distance. The bigger boat is used by the owner to rent the boat to visitors.

House Sparrow

>> Dec 25, 2010

I don’t see various wild birds around my neighborhood. Most of them are House Sparrow birds. Indonesian people call this bird ‘burung Gereja’ (Church bird). I don’t know why we call it that way. Sorry for not sharing the clear photo…

House Sparrow (Passer domesticus) is a species of passerine
bird of the sparrow family Passeridae. It occurs naturally in most of Europe, the Mediterranean region, and much of Asia. It has also been accidentally introduced to many parts of the world, making it the most widely distributed wild bird. It is a small bird, with feathers mostly different shades of brown and grey.

The House Sparrow is a very social bird. It also settles communally, its nests are usually grouped together in clumps, and it engages in a number of social activities, such as dust and water bathing, and "social singing", in which birds call together in bushes. I love to hear their “social singing”… Do you?

The channel is located in Katulampa, Bogor (West Java, Indonesia). We only needs about 30 minutes ride to reach this spot. The little dam (located on the side of Katulampa Dam) allows a part of flowing Ciliwung River into the irrigation channel. Local people use the water for their daily purposes.

Lion

>> Dec 18, 2010

These wonderful creatures were captured at Taman Safari (Safari Park) Cisarua Bogor Indonesia. During my several visits to the park, I seldom saw wandering lions there, most of them were sitting and sleeping, like this couple.

Seeing a lion is remembering me to Aslan character in Narnia the movies. The lion (Panthera leo) is one of the four big cats in the genus Panthera, and a member of the family Felidae. With some males exceeding 250 kg weight, lion is the second-largest living cat after the tiger.

Lions spend much of their time resting and are inactive for about 20 hours per day. Although lions can be active at any time, their activity generally peaks after dusk with a period of socializing, grooming, and defecating. Irregular activity follow through the night hours until dawn, when hunting most often takes place. They spend an average of two hours a day walking and 50 minutes eating.

The mane of the adult male lion is very famous and unique among cats. It makes the lion appear larger and provides an excellent intimidation display. The darker and fuller the mane, the healthier the lion.
