Gas Fuelled Bajaj

>> Nov 4, 2013

The new blue bajaj

The driver wore blue t-shirt :)

Since the 70s, orange bajaj has become an iconic part of Jakarta, Indonesia. But now, those old, noisy and shaky orange bajaj are gradually replaced with new blue bajaj that are more environmentally friendly.

The convoy of three bajaj

Blue bajaj is a three wheeled Jakarta public transportation that started using gas fuel. During my last visit to Jakarta with brothers, SILs, nieces and nephews, we hired three bajaj to take us from the front of Merdeka Square to reach a mall. Blue bajaj is more expensive than the old ones that still use oil fuel. It’s not a problem at all since we enjoy the more comfortable ride. If you visit Jakarta one day, would you like to try a blue bajaj ride?

I would love to ride in a Bajal, but I'm glad you told me the right name as I would have tried to hail a TukTuk as in Thailand!

Environmentally friendly vehicles are usually a better option. But I was wondering how is "bajaj" pronounced?

So nice! The beau always visits Indonesia for work. Perhaps when one time I'll join him so I can try riding this bajaj :D
