>> Jul 7, 2014

PlayStation not only can lead to addiction in children, but do you know if it can also cause skin disease? The new skin disease called PlayStation palmar hidradentitis published in the British Journal of Dermatology.

The researchers took the case on a 12-year-old child who came to Geneva University Hospital, Switzerland, with severe skin disease on her palm. Treating physician concluded the girl was experiencing the idiopathic eccrine hidradentitis condition. The skin disease characterized by the redness and swelling on the skin of her palms and soles of the feet.  It’s usually found on the soles of the feet of people who perform strenuous physical activity such as jogging, which is allegedly related to the large number of sweat released during the exercise.

The parents of the girl said that recently she’s playing games for a few hours each day. She insisted to play despite the skin disease on the palm of her hand. Doctors suspected the problem occurred since the grip was too strong and continuously on controlling hand grip of gaming console. A tense game led her to repeatedly push the button and sweating.

The girl could only recover after 10 days of abstinence to play PlayStation. Nina Goard of the British Association of Dermatologists said that if your child’s hand was sweaty when playing game; ask him or her to take a break for a while to avoid skin diseases. Perhaps this case was only a special case and was caused because her skin was very sensitive, but it could be a warning to parents about the risk. Playing PlayStation may cause skin disease.

Naps that are too long can annoy one’s healthy sleep pattern. It may cause difficulty sleeping at night and make the night bedtime becomes shorter. Night's sleep disorder is suspected potentially increasing the risk of type-2 diabetes.

In addition, the researchers found that the wake from a nap activates hormones and mechanisms in the body that interfere with the effectiveness of the insulin hormones. Diabetes itself is caused by the insulin hormones that don’t work effectively. It explained why too long napping affects negatively to one’s health.

Thus, taking a nap for about 15 minutes can be useful for mind and energy recharging, but improper naps may result in sleep problems and later it may lead to other health problems.

If identified early; autism in children can actually be solved more effectively. According to research at Yale University, England, autism can be diagnosed sooner by looking at the toddler’s response while watching animated or cartoon movies.

Normally, toddlers are very pleased to see moving pictures in cartoons and will focus attention on every movement. But it doesn’t happen with the autistic toddlers. They ignored the movement in the cartoons.

Identification of autism with this cartoon made

Dr. Ami Klin, a researcher from the Yale Child Study Center, said that knowing the early symptoms of autism is very important because the therapy can be administered more quickly and precisely.
