To Have Enjoyable Statue of Liberty Tours

>> Feb 23, 2013

Whenever talking about interesting destinations in New York City, what do you have in mind? If you ask me, I’ll answer my two dream places to visit: the Statue of Liberty New York and the Empire State Building. Although some friends said that they are too common destinations, I don’t care.  If I visit New York City one day, I’ll certainly include them in my trip plan as the must visit destinations!

The Empire State Building is the New York’s tallest structure. I’m imagining being at its 86th floor observation deck and enjoy the view; I’ll ignore my high sickness! This building has attracted many tourists for years but I’ll write more about my preparation of having statue of liberty tours here. Even though I still don’t have an accurate leaving date, I like to gather information and make a trip plan.

Stands on a Liberty Island in the center of the New York City harbor, the 46-meters-tall Statue of Liberty is the worldwide most famous symbol of Freedom and Democracy and also a National Monument since 1924. It must be very exciting to stand near the statue’s feet and stare up. For those who have ever taken the ferry to Liberty Island for this unforgettable view, they are so lucky.

I know that the Hurricane Sandy has caused widespread damage to Liberty Island and Ellis Island. Both islands are forbidden for visitors for an indefinite period. The ferry wouldn’t bring visitors coming ashore on the islands, but tourists still can enjoy this amazing statue from the Statue Cruises ferry boats. I really hope that during my true New York visit, the two islands have been re-opened! I’ll book my ferry tickets online in advance; who would like to waste times in a long ticket purchase line?

Advice about Pets and Vets

Families who already have a pet will know what an enriching and educational addition to family life they can be. Children love nothing more than to have a special friend, who will love them unconditionally, and listen to all their secrets without telling a soul. Pets teach them about unselfishness, self-sacrifice, responsibility and loyalty. Pets are a huge comfort to both children and parents.

Rescue Pets
Many people adopt rescue animals from a shelter. This is another great opportunity for your children to learn about compassion and helping the weakest in the world. The rescue of pets is considered to be so important that even President Obama came under scrutiny when he adopted his dog. Bo had been rejected by his first family, and was then given to the President as a gift.

Vets and Pets
There is no magic wand when it comes to pets. They get ill, just like your children, and they need medical treatment in just the same way. Most people understand the need for pet insurance, and pay it willingly. Rescue pets are a great option, but sometimes they come with a pre-existing medical condition, which will make finding the best deal on pet insurance harder to find. How many know the fine detail about this type of insurance, to enable them to get the best deal? Not many.

The small print can be confusing, and some companies make it deliberately so. Here we explore the fine print of comparing pet insurance deal for those pets with a pre-existing condition, so you’ll be better informed when to take out your first pet insurance contract. Some insurance companies don’t cover pets with a pre-existing condition at all, and some companies will insure your pet but won’t offer cover for health problems connected with the pre-existing health problem. The fine print will help you decide which policy is best for you. So what do you need to know?

Hereditary or Congenital Conditions
Pre-existing medical conditions can either be classed as hereditary or congenital. Genetic conditions tend to particularly affect pedigree dogs, and there has been a lot of controversy about the issue. These are known as a ‘hereditary’ conditions. Because pedigree dogs come from a limited gene pool (only the best will do!) any genetic problems in one stud dog will be passed on to his puppies, who then pass it on to their puppies. It is common for large dogs to suffer problems with their hips (hip dysplasia), and other breeds such as German Shepherds, Cocker Spaniels and St Bernards, can suffer from deafness, blindness and epilepsy. If your pet was born with a condition that is not related to its breed, this is known as a ‘congenital’ disorder, and you will have to check whether your insurer will allow for congenital conditions. An example of this could be a cat born with kidney or heart problems. You will need to be able to decide if your pet has a congenital or hereditary condition, or you may find some of your vet’s bill are not covered. Ask your vet if you are not sure.

Other Pre-Existing Conditions
You will need to tell your insurer about other types of existing conditions too. These can either be ‘on-going’ or ‘recurrent’ in nature.  ‘On-going conditions’ could be previously broken bones, whilst ‘recurrent conditions’ are things such as infections which may come back at a later date. Most insurance companies will cover a pet with on-going and recurrent problems as long as you declare it at the time you take out your policy.

Compare Insurance Policies
Once you have decided on what type of pre-existing medical condition your pet has you will need to look at a pet insurance comparison site to find the best deal. Look at
·         The maximum vets fees covered
·         Time limits for claims
·         Minimum excess charged – exclude any deals if you couldn’t afford the excess
·         Existing conditions cover

Once you have compared all these elements you should be able to find the decision about which insurance to choose a little easier. Beware of deals that offer to cover ‘every breed’ but don’t make the small print clear or easy to find. Insurance comparison sites take a lot of legwork out of finding the best deal, and are really easy to use. You will need to arm yourself with a few facts, but then it should be relatively simple to protect your furriest family member without anxiety. We always hope against hope that we will never need to use medical insurance. But if we do, it’s great to know there is a security net there, and no anxiety about getting the best treatment possible.

Are You Looking for Unique Baby Shower Favors?

>> Feb 22, 2013

I’m helping a friend to prepare her baby shower that will be held next month. Anyway, have you ever questioned why this special event is called baby shower? The word shower means that the would-be mother is showered with presents from her female friends and relatives. Only women are invited to attend a baby shower as this occasion has the original purpose to share knowledge and wisdom about motherhood.

I think a baby shower should be carried out for cherishing the first pregnant experience of every pregnant woman who will treasure this event as one of her most memorable moments during their nine months of pregnancy. We’re so lucky that we have no trouble anymore to find personalized and unique baby shower favors, baby shower decoration and party supplies that would be required to make an unforgettable baby shower. From the comfort of her home, my friend would be able to browse a large collection of cool, useful, impressive stuffs at a favorite online store like ABCFavors and to select one item that she likes most.

My main task is preparing the games to keep amused all visitors of her baby shower. I plan to select three games to play: baby trivia, diaper changing races and baby names games. I hope she would be agreed with my chosen games. My friend told me that she wouldn’t choose a specific theme for her baby shower but since it’s a baby girl; she only would like a pink themed one. I’m imagining how sweet and awesome her event would be!

Blending Correctly for Essential Oil Soaps

>> Feb 21, 2013

Like many things in life, sometimes things get better when they are blended perfectly with carefully selected ingredients. Whiskey, tea and essential oils being a few such things! When it comes to essential oils, they are used in a variety of industries and probably one of the best-known industries is the perfume industry.

There is also the fact that essential oil soaps are becoming increasingly popular today because people want to try out something that is closer to nature rather than something that is full of chemicals. Most soaps can be made by using a single essential oil. But for a soap that delivers a wider array of benefits, one must choose multiple essential oils and blend them perfectly.

Let the fragrance be a guide

When it comes to making essential oil soaps, one must have a finely developed sense of smell in order to be able to choose the right kind of essential oils to be mixed together. However, you could perhaps follow a simple rule of not choosing oils that will clash together as far as their fragrances are concerned. What you can do therefore is to pick up small amounts of the various essential oils that appeal to you. Choose an ink dropper and select just one drop each of these oils, blend them together and see if the fragrance appeals to you.

Let the properties be a guide

You can also choose essential oils based on the properties. For instance,
·         Lavender is said to be a good disinfectant.
·         Eucalyptus is said to be antiseptic.
·         Silver sage soap is said to be calming.
So if you want to create a soap that delivers these kinds of benefits, then you could see if blending these three essential oils works to create a wonderful soap or not.

The nuances of notes

Every essential oil can be classified into three notes in terms of its fragrance – top, middle and base. The heaviest or the longest lasting scent is the base note. Oils such as sandalwood, patchouli and frankincense are classified into this category. Top notes lie on the other side of the spectrum and are said to be the lightest and last for an extremely short duration. Lemon, lavender and sweet orange can be examples of such notes. In the middle are oils such as nutmeg, geranium and neroli.

At the end of the day, there probably is no better guide than your sense of smell and your appreciation of the fragrance that is created when you blend essential oils to make soaps.
