Sunday Morning at the Kencana Park

>> Oct 7, 2013

Enjoying the shade of a tree

My husband and I planned to have chicken porridge for breakfast at the usual place, but we ran out of it. Then we went to the Kencana Park (Bogor, West Java, Indonesia) as usually many food sellers can be seen there during weekend. After eating our breakfast, we’re interested to come near the center of the park –lots of people gathered, made me curious.

The viewers were laughing to watch funny puppets and MC

Modern Jaipong dance- very talented girl!

It turned out that there was a show of various Bogor Sundanese traditional cultures. I spent more than two hours to watch interesting performance of wayang (puppet show), dancers, martial art and traditional music.
Rampak Gendang
Sundanese Pencak Silat - a kind of local martial art. Seems gentle but powerful movements.
The Kencana Park in my city isn’t a huge park, but it’s wide enough for Bogor people to conduct various activities there. That morning, besides the show of local artists, at least I noticed three other groups were also in the park: skate boarders, photographers and husky-dog lovers.  Some parents with their children were playing plastic ball in the grass field while others just sitting on the grass. We left the place after the show finished. What a nice Sunday morning.
Some pretty girls were playing kecapi and singing Sundanese songs

Blue were seen here and there, I can link this post to Blue Monday

Talented young people. I want to play kecapi one day! It's a nice instrument. :D

I'd love to hear the kecapi. I don't know if I've ever heard one play before. That looks like a fun event.

Hi Lina
I smiled at your first words because I've never had chicken porridge and love that you enjoy this for breakfast, it makes our breakfasts of cereal and toast seem rather boring.
Thank you for transporting me to enjoy Indonesia with you.

Nice to see traditional shows being performed at parks, something considered rare in my place.
