To Reduce Your Cold and Flu Symptoms Naturally

>> Mar 3, 2014

I’ve got common cold symptoms since the last two days. I experience a sore throat at first and later runny nose, stuffy nose, plus slight headache and cough.  I don’t feel fever and any muscle pain, so I guess it’s not flu.

We should know the difference between flu and cold symptoms. Compared with the flu, a cold is a milder respiratory sickness that can affect you for a few days. While flu has more severe symptoms that can make you feel bad for a few days to weeks. This flu may lead to more serious health problems like pneumonia. Experts said that several hundred different viruses may cause cold symptoms.

Common cold symptoms usually last for about a week. If I’m not getting better in a week, I should go to the doctor as I may need antibiotics.

Do you prefer to natural remedies? Anyway, there are no instant and miracle remedies for your cold or flu. Here are some recommended options from experts that will help you –and me- get better sooner (source: webmd.com).

1. Zinc gluconate lozenges (no longer than 5 days)

2.Nasal irrigation with sterile water like the neti pot (several times per week)

3.Pelargonium sidoides (supplement made from South African geranium)

4.Hot ginger and lemon tea.

My lemon tea. It can soothe my throat and refresh my body.

Other popular remedies : Echinacea, vitamin C, chicken soup, garlic, steam, saline drops, menthol ointment, salt water gargle, nasal strips. You are also suggested to drink a lot of water, take a bed rest and let your fever works. Fever is a sign of your working body immune system.

Good one, thanks for sharing.

In my case, normally it starts with cold and ended up with Flu :)

Oh, poor Lina, I do hate to get a cold. There's not much to do to help, and you just feel yucky.

Your tea cup and saucer are pretty though, with blue in it.

Happy Blue Monday!

Your teacup is so bright and cheerful that I'm sure it would help to make anyone feel better especially when it contains a great remedy ;D
Thanks for sharing and I hope you feel better soon.

I do have this kind of tea everytime I lost my voice or when having a sore throat. It is indeed very effective.
