How to Nurture Up a Date Night
>> Jun 22, 2013
It's time for
weekly date night, and you already know it will consist of a movie rental,
cheap takeout and spending the rest of the night in your pajamas on the couch.
While this might sound like an amazing date night choice, doing this every week
for the foreseeable future gets, well, boring. By taking the time out of your
hectic lives for a date night at least once a week, it will help your relationship stay happy and healthy.
You shouldn't have
to stress about money for an overly priced restaurant or new clothes to wear;
life is complicated and expensive enough. The point of date night is to enjoy each other's company and spend time together. Here
are some fun and inexpensive date night ideas you and your man can enjoy:
Backyard Picnic
Enjoy the night's
sky and eat dinner in your backyard. Bring a picnic basket full of goodies and
set up a large blanket. For some atmosphere, bring out some candles and light
them around the blanket. Once you're done eating, lay down and look up at all
the stars. Can you guys spot any constellations?
Read to Each Other
Select your
favorite book and read a few chapters from it to each other. This can be any
book: from teen books like "Harry Potter" or "The Hunger
Games" to relationship advice and marriage books like "The 10
Commandments of Marriage" by Ed Young.
Pastor Young communicates the
truth of God with a diverse culture through compelling and creative techniques.
He is also the founder and senior Pastor of Fellowship Church in Grapevine,
Texas.
Theme Night at Home
For a fun and crazy
night, have a theme night at home: Western, French, sci-fi,
anything you can think of. Dress up in clothes that match the era of your date
night and eat food, and watch a movie with the same theme. For example, if
you're having a Western night, dress up like a saloon girl or cowgirl, and have
your man dress up like a cowboy or sheriff. Cook some good barbeque food —
watch "Tombstone," "The Alamo" or "True Grit." If
you love '80s classics, dress in the best '80s attire you can wear, watch
"Pretty in Pink," "Teen Wolf" or "The Breakfast
Club" and eat your favorite foods.
Be a Tourist
Spend the afternoon
doing what tourists do in your area. Find what tourist attractions are in your
city that tourists often visit, and spend the afternoon acting like tourists,
including taking cheesy pictures together!
Sport-Themed Ideas
Your man will have
fun with these date night ideas — and I bet you will too. Instead of sitting
around with him at the sports bar or watching the game on your TV, go out and
actually do something fun!
A day at the
batting cadges can be romantic: Have him show you how to use your bat and ask
him to put on your helmet for you. In no time, you guys will be hitting balls
left and right. If your man loves golf, take him to the driving range. Going to
a go-kart racing facility is a nice change and will get the adrenaline pumping.
Murder Mystery Dinner
What's better than
dinner and a live show? At a murder mystery dinner party, you're part of the
show. While eating your dinner, you can watch actors play out scenes, and you
try to guess who the murderer is... but, be careful he or she might be at your
table!
