5 tips to improve your family's health
>> Feb 5, 2018
Family
means everything to most of us, and discovering ways to keep each other safe
and happy is always a fantastic idea. As a father, you'd do anything possible
to ensure your family's safety and overall well-being. Also, mothers are never
left out, as they're mostly eager to improve the well-being of the children and
her home in general.
While
there are numerous ways to support and safe guard your family, the most
important step begins with their health. When a family is at its best—both
physically and mentally—they are better equipped to handle whatever is thrown
their way; be it illness and disease, or a sudden unfortunate circumstance, or
maybe even one of the happiest moments of their lives. In essence, "a family
who puts their health first, extends their lifespan and quality of life."

Here
are five tips on how you and your family can improve health wise.
1. Make the home a healthy environment
Your
home is the first place your children, most especially; encounter most of their
life experiences and lessons.
Lead
by example and rid yourself of any abusive habits like drinking, doing drugs,
physical, and emotional assault in your relationship; and this would improve
the overall well being of your family.
"In
studies of community samples, children of substance abusing parents are more
than twice as likely to have an alcohol and/or drug use disorder themselves by
young adulthood as compared to their peers," says a report by Jessica M.
Solis[1].
2. Use more organic and natural products
These
days, harmful chemicals and toxins exist in just about everything you and your
family use. From the clothes you wear, to the foods you eat, beverages you
drink and even the bed you sleep in.
"As
we look at protecting children's health, we need to look not just at nutrition,
diet, and physical activity, but also exposure to chemicals," says Jason
Rano, director of government affairs at the environmental Working Group.
Utilizing
more organic and natural products would reduce the risk of your family getting
exposed to harmful chemicals that can damage their health, or even worse,
threaten their lives.
Organic
products are basically products that are made with at least 95% authentic
materials and ingredients—products made out of cannabidiol are organic and can
be purchased at a CBD gummies retailer[2].
3. Get a pet
"Studies
have shown that Alzheimer's patients have fewer anxious outbursts if there is
an animal in the home," says Lynette Hart, PhD, associate professor at the
University of California at Davis School of Veterinary Medicine[2].
"Their
caregivers also feel less burdened when there is a pet, particularly if it is a
cat, which generally requires less care than a dog," says Hart.
Families who own pets, most especially dogs, tend to be more active and aware. Dogs are
fantastic companions who help in reducing stress, improve happiness amongst
other things. In a bid to keep the dog healthy and sharp, family members have
to wake up early and take the dog for walks, or runs, and in turn are
exercising.
It’s
also important to make sure that your pet is living a happy and healthy life,
as they technically a part of your family as well.

4. Eat meals together
Just
like the popular saying "a family who eats together, stays together",
quality time spent with your family is extremely important to their physical
and emotional well-being—and one of the most common avenue to do that is during
meal times.
Having
dinner together can greatly improve self-esteem, lower their risk of
depression, promote healthier relationships, reduce risks of obesity, build a
higher sense of resilience, and reduce the risk of harmful behaviours such as
drug abuse or teenage pregnancy.
"In
many cases, kids who eat dinner on a regular basis with their family also have
higher self-esteem and above average grade point averages. Having regular
conversations around the dinner table can help boost vocabulary and public
speaking skills," said Jennifer Chung, parenting expert and co-founder of
Kinsights: a parenting community and online health record.
5. Schedule regular family medical checkups
Regular
health exams and tests are necessary to discover problems before they even
begin. This would greatly improve the health of every family member, and ensure
that everyone is in topnotch condition.
Early
medical examination can help to find problems early, when the chances for
treatment and cure are higher. By scheduling regular checkups for the family—at
a reputable hospital—for screenings and treatments, you are taking important
steps that'll help your chances and that of your family, for living a longer,
healthier life.
Besides,
the age of your family members, health and family history, lifestyle choices,
and other important factors, determine what and how often your family require
healthcare.
