Puppy training usually requires time and dedication from both the trainer and owner. Some puppies tend to be aggressive and anti-social naturally. In such scenarios, the dog owner not only have to be patient but must also be persistent in reinforcing the training regardless of the number of times the puppy makes mistakes. If you all you want is to give your puppy the training that will yield long lasting result in a timely manner, then you should consider Top Dog Training and Resort.

One of the factors to consider when it comes to puppy training is age.  It is however, possible to train a puppy using the right techniques but perhaps more difficult to correct behavioral issues in older dogs. It is however advised that you take your dog to a training school as early as the 6th week to begin training the puppy. Most times the puppy’s age usually determines the perfect method to use for puppy training.

The first step in puppy training is to familiarize the dog with its new environment. House training can include puppy training techniques like potty training, crate training and the ability to recognize basic commands like “sit”, “go” and “stay”. These commands serve as building blocks for future lessons.

Socialization is a critical part of puppy training. If well socialized, the dog would easily interact with humans and other animals without having to appear aggressive or fearful. If your puppy is anti-social, it is advisable to isolate the dog to prevent harm to itself or others. The first 3 months of a puppy’s life is considered the perfect time to inculcate socialization skills; after these periods, it is recommended that the skills be refined and reinforced.

Leash training and obedience are important aspects when it comes to training a puppy to be well behaved. There are two aspects of training a dog to walk on a leash; the collar must initially be fitted on the dog and then it has to get accustomed to a leash. The leash must be snugly fitted but without pressing too hard on the puppy’s neck. Leash training permits the owner to walk the dog safely in a public environment. Obedience training trains the puppy to obey commands and prevents the puppy from exhibiting destructive behaviors.

A few basic tips can help increase the success rate of most puppy training techniques. Positive reinforcement is a critical part of dog training. This will help the dog absorb and learn faster. A professional puppy training school starts training in an isolated area so the dog won’t be distracted.  This will make the whole procedure easier for both the professional trainer and the dog.
