>> Oct 27, 2018

There are several kinds of disorders that occur in the human body. Many are related to mind out of which sleep disorders are more common. Obstructive sleep apnea is a severe type of sleep disorder which involves obstruction of respiration while sleeping. As it sounds, it is a dangerous abnormality and can lead to death many times. This usually happens when the respiratory organs start to intervene while the body is sleeping and cause disruption in proper breathing. Snoring can be counted as a very prominent sign for a person suffering from the disorder.
Causes:

This happens when the breathing muscles in our respiratory system relax way too much to narrow down the oxygen supply in our body and keep you on the verge of almost choking. The narrowing down of muscles may persist to 10 or more seconds and this lead to serious breathing crisis. The brain as it senses the crisis wakes you up to control the situation and start breathing again. The disturbance could be too brief for you to even notice or remember in the morning. If you wake up breathing heavily or gasping or choking, Obstructive sleep apnea could be the right guess. You could also take loud snoring into account. This could lead to lack of sleep at night and make it difficult for you to concentrate during work hours and make you feel very lazy. Night sweating is also a symptom that should not be ignored. Due to lack of oxygen, your blood pressure is likely to increase and you could suffer from morning headaches as well.
Factors to be taken care of:

Although, there is no particular reason for the disorder to occur, there are certain factors that could leave you more prone to the obstructive sleep apnea. It is highly advisable to take care of these mentioned factors before they turn fatal for you.

  •  Smoking habit: smoking narrows down your respiratory vessels by depositing layers of tar. This puts you to a very big threat of suffering from the disorder in the near future.
  • Gender: According to research, men are more likely to fall for the disorder as compared to the women.
  • Overweight: most of the people suffering from the disease are overweight. The excess amount of weight can block the air passages and make it difficult for you to breathe. Although, thin people too can develop the disorder.
  •  Asthma: this would come as a non-shocker as the people who suffer from asthma are more likely to suffer from Obstructive sleep disorder because of the breathing problems.
  • Genetics: the problem may run in the family which could make the kid automatically a sufferer of the disease.
